Over the past few days, users of various smart TV platforms have been sending reports that YouTube TV app, not just the stream was freezing in the middle of playback. Getting this to work again involve exiting the app and having to restart it from the home menu.
TV fans on Reddit have reported this issue on their smart TVs (like Samsung, Sony, LG), streaming boxes (such as Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, Apple TV, Nvidia Shield), and game consoles (PS4m PS5, Xbox One) alike Oddly. But this technical issue does not seem to affect smartphones and tablet users.
Roku Freezing Issues
Although the issue affects YouTube subscribers with all types of hardware, it was first heard in the context of Roku users in particular. And this sounds like they are having a specific hard time about it.
A common troubleshooting step for technical issues like this would be to remove the YouTube TV channel from Roku device and reinstall it. But it is just not possible as things stands today.
YouTube TV App Unavailable on Roku Channel
AS Roku and YouTube are still feuding, this has left the YouTube TV app to be unavailable on Roku Channel Store for months. But Google has used a clever method in the standard YouTube app to keep the service available to both new and old users.
This new method won’t seem to last, as the standard YouTube app is due to be removed from Roku next month. Fortunately for YouTube TV members, the issue seems to be subsiding. Reports from problems on Downdetector peaked have returned to baseline levels. Meaning the YouTube TV app will be a work in progress and members will be able to slide in the entertainment platform this celebration months.
