As available only to WhatsApp desktop beta users for now, WhatsApp Now Lets You Create Your Own Sticker. WhatsApp has for long supported stickers, but not compared to the way other competition handles them. They have always felt cumbersome and needlessly complicated.
That it true when you want to create your own choice of sticker sets, which you can only do using third-party apps. But thankfully, WhatsApp is finally starting to change that. WhatsApp Web beta version now allows users to create their own stickers from existing images saved to your storage.
WhatsApp Now Lets You Create Your Own Sticker
When you pull up the sticker selector on your WhatsApp Web via the shortcut next to text entry field, you will notice the new “Create” shortcut as the first suggestion in the overview of recently used stickers.
Click on it, and WhatsApp will show you a system file picker dialog. This will allow users to select any image they want to use as sticker. The app then throws it into its own image editor, and just like other media file, you can choose to crop it, add text, emoji, and another sticker to it.
WhatsApp Sticker Creator
Given that the feature is only available to beta users, there are few catches attached to it. You won’t be able to use your self-created stickers on your phone, as it only syncs across your WhatsApp desktop for now. Meaning that you can use your created sticker on WhatsApp for desktop though, like in mac app, despite it not supporting sticker creation just yet. “WhatsApp Sticker Create”
WhatsApp Web Beta
If you still want to get into sticker creation, ensure to join the WhatsApp Web Beta. To get this done, tap on the overflow menu on your phone’s WhatsApp version and navigate to “Linked devices”.
From there, opt to join the multi-device beta. After that is done, you will be required to reconnect your phone to your computer again. But you will get other benefit along the way. Messages are coming in to your desktop right from WhatsApp servers, so you don’t need to have your phone turned on and connected all times when you use the app on your desktop.
