While, people who had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are eligible for the Moderna COVID-19 booster shot after two months. All adults are recommended to get whatever booster shots available to them,even if it means mixing and matching vaccine boosters.

Is it safe to mix and match vaccine boosters?

Yes, it’s is safe. FDA has authorised mixing the COVID-19 boosters , which in the United States means Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. Anyone who is eligible for the booster can get any of the available brands of the coronavirus vaccine.

If you had the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine for your first two shots, then you could pick any authorised vaccine including J&J. And this is only if you qualifier and it had been six months or more since your second shot of the dose.

Will there be a fourth COVID booster shot?

The CDC has updated its guidance saying as from next year, some immunocompromised Americans will be able to get a fourth COVID-19 booster shot. It is still unclear if other groups will need to get this fourth dose at the time available.
